Dr M’s garden flower quiz the answers?

How did Dr M’s garden quiz go for you?

If you didn’t try it yet please here – even if you are not so familiar with garden plants and weren’t exactly sure what was what Dr M urges you to have a go at least to ID the family in each case and then the genus and species if you were feeling more confident or if garden plants are your thing, HOWEVER:

Dr M admits to perhaps botanically biting off a little more than he could chew with this post, he photographed lots of lovely flower but then realised that in a number of cases he was not at all sure about the exact species or cultivar or hybrid and has used the convention “cf.” to indicate doubt in some cases or just straight “sp.” when confidence was low!

So with no further  beating about the flower bush here are Dr M’s suggested answers (and see table below for more info on families etc), presented in all botanical humility and in the full expectation that a number of these will be challenged and corrected in due course, that’s what eXtreme garden botany is all about!

Dr M says:  See table below for Dr M’s answers in full, if you think you’ve spotted some errors or have some extra species/cultivar/hybrid info to share please contact Dr M here.
