Green is the colour of botany!

Dr M says: “what’s not to love about green?!”

Of course plants yield many more colours than green: flowers, seeds, bark, roots and fruits come in all colours of the rainbow, but green surely is the staple colour of botany!

Mosses, liverworts, ferns, conifers and flowering plants all in this seasons best shades of green!  Dr M of course only has to think of his beloved grasses to burst into the Poaceae song: a family of grasses GREEN and wonderful!

Dr M is coming to the end of his summer holidays and only yesterday was admiring this variegated ivy (Hedera colchica) in the garden.  Dr M is not normally moved by variegated plants but he has always had a soft spot for this one with its huge and strikingly beautiful leaves variegated in many glorious shades of botanical green!
